The competition, sponsored by Sappi papers, recognizes print excellence nationwide. The competition elicits 3,000 entries from 600 printers throughout North American annually. Only 36 entries representing six categories are chosen to receive a Silver award. Printers demonstrating technical and flawless print capability are deemed the best in their class. The 36 winners then go on to compete Globally for the Gold.

• 2008 U Litho wins two silver and two bronze, an even rarer accomplishment then the year before. The silvers were for University Lithoprinters Capabilities brochure and the Pryor Design Case Studies/Gallery Books. The bronzes were for The Healing Work of Art Book for Detroit Receiving Hospital and the U of M Findings Magazine.
  
  
• 2007 U Litho wins two silvers, a rare accomplishment for a Printer to win two silvers in one year. The winners were Art in the Stations/The Detroit People Mover Book (Second Printing) and PHIRE Branding Self Promotional Brochure.
  
  
• 2005 U Litho wins one silver and the only printer in Michigan to win a silver award that year for Art in the Stations/The Detroit People Mover Book.
  
  
• 2004 U Litho wins one silver one of only two printers in Michigan to win a silver that year for U of M Internal Medicine Annual Report.

This competition draws from all printers in Southeastern Michigan. There are over 300 entries, which are judged on printing excellence and the quality of production through each phase of the manufacturing process.
